Adidas sued the designer Thom Browne for almost $8 million in damages and profits arguing that Thom Browne's stripes 'imitate' the Adidas three stripe trademark.
Adidas argued that Thom Browne's use of stripes would cause the general public to confuse Thom Browne's designs for its own products. Thom Browne argued that Adidas did not own stripes. The jury agreed as after a nine-day trial they ruled in favour of Thom Browne.
I didn't know much about Thom Browne until seeing this case save for seeing Ayo Edebiri at the critics choice (pictured) who looked incredible in her outfit featuring the four stripes.
