The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act uses language similar to the EU and UK GDPR. If the Act passes, it'll add to the safeguards protecting personal data.

This could be a step in the right direction towards an adequacy decision for the US. This would make transferring personal data between UK based businesses to the US easier

For now, businesses must check they are protecting personal data before transferring it to the US. Without appropriate safeguards like transfer agreements you could be fined by the ICO, as happened to Meta / Facebook recently.
